Jon York, the director of York, Hanawalt & Brock, has over 35 years of legal experience. Prior to directing York, Hanawalt & Brock, Jon directed Jon York & Associates for 7 years and York, Buresh & Kaplan for 17 years. Jon has resided in Berkeley for over 35 years and has maintained his law practice there for the last 22 years. In 2005, Jane Hanawalt and Gregory Brock became partners and joined Jon in the managing of the firm. All of our firm’s attorneys reside in the Bay Area and practice throughout California. Our firm has extensive and successful civil jury trial and dispute resolution history before the state and federal trial and appellate courts and the California Supreme Court. Collectively, our firm has tried over 200 civil jury trials and participated in over one thousand arbitrations and mediations. We strongly advocate Alternative Dispute Resolution as a timesaving tool to successfully mediate and settle many cases and disputes. This helps keep our clients out of court, thus minimizing costs and saving time. Our firm has substantial A.D.R. experience and some attorneys have served as mediators and/or arbitrators for various Bay Area courts. However, if A.D.R. does not resolve our clients’ case, we have proven ability and skill to win civil jury trials on their behalf. Many of our clients come to us after unfavorable experiences with other lawyers or feeling their cases were not handled in a professional, respectful or competent manner. All of our attorneys make it a priority to put our clients’ needs and wishes first and will make sure each case is handled skillfully up to and throughout trial. We work hard to resolve our clients’ claims outside of the courtroom, but, in the event that is not possible, we are always ready, willing and able to advocate or defend our clients’ interests at trial.
